St. Rose Outreach and Recovery, Hancock Community Development Foundation in partnership with the American Red Cross Hurricane Recovery Program, announces the Building Community Resilience program designed to provide community-based emotional wellness and resilience in the form of a ‘Sunday Supper’ for those directly affected by Hurricane Katrina.
Building Community Resilience is a program to help survivors recover from life-altering events that occurred during and after the storms. The program is designed to enhance well-being and resilience through monthly Sunday Suppers for community members which includes social networking, community outreach, and integration into new communities.
‘Sunday Suppers’ are once per month and provide a place for community members from the Waveland and Bay St. Louis areas to gather together to share good food and great times. Sunday Suppers have become an event that people look forward to and many say it was the kind of thing they remembered doing before the storms. Sunday Suppers provide fun activities during the evening, a free meal and dessert, a resource table including pamphlets and brochures about health and wellness, and a place to gather with old and new friends!
